School Nurse

For healthcare provision, our school has among its teaching and support staff one doctor and four qualified nursing professionals, who are able to assess and respond appropriately to any incident that arises.

To attend to any immediate needs that may arise during school hours, we have a medical room - a properly equipped space with the necessary materials for basic first aid - as well as fully stocked first aid kits located in laboratories, staff rooms and other areas throughout the school.

Pupils have medical insurance, and in the event of any incident, parents are informed and given a full account of what happened, as well as guidance on obtaining care at the appropriate medical centers

To administer medication to pupils, we require parental authorisation, along with the prescription or medical report stating the treatment plan and dosage to be followed.

If during the school day a pupil develops a temperature, parents are notified and, with their authorisation, an antipyretic may be administered.

We carry out straightforward procedures such as disinfecting wounds, applying dressings, applying cold gel and similar basic care.

In the event of infectious or communicable illnesses, we follow the preventive measures recommended by the Department of Health.

Each academic year, the Department of Health administers vaccines on school premises to pupils in Year 6 of Primary, Year 7 and Year 8 of Secondary, in accordance with the current vaccination schedule, following prior notification to parents and with their authorisation.

We carry out oral health check-ups to identify tooth decay or other dental problems and to inform families accordingly. The oral health programme focuses on pupils in Early Years Year 2, Year 1 and Year 6 of Primary. Families are always asked for authorisation before any check-up and are kept fully informed.

Pupils are also given age-appropriate guidance on healthy eating for good dental health and on correct tooth-brushing techniques.
