Festivals and celebrations

School Anniversary

On 17th October, El Pinar de Nuestra Señora dresses up for a celebration, commemorating the anniversary of its founding. The entire school community marks this date of special significance, giving thanks to God for so many blessings received during more than seventy years of existence, dedicated to our educational vocation.

Beginning with a solemn Holy Mass held in the playground, followed by performances and shows prepared by all the pupils, the day concludes with a festive meal to celebrate this occasion with great enthusiasm.

La Castanyada (Chestnut Festival)

Chestnuts, panellets and sweet potatoes — one of Catalonia's most iconic traditions has arrived! La Castanyada at El Pinar is a unique celebration. The youngest children enjoy the activities carefully prepared by the Vocational Training pupils, under the direction of Núria Fernández. Everyone gets ready for the visit of the Castanyera!

Year after year, with great ingenuity and originality, the playground is transformed into a magical forest full of talking chestnuts and fantastical characters who delight the youngest children with guided dances and games.

Christmas

From September onwards, the Choir begins its rehearsals to prepare the Christmas carols. In October and November, the organisation of the Christmas activities starts to take shape. In December, El Pinar is transformed into a giant nativity scene to welcome the birth of Jesus.

Young and old, with great enthusiasm, take part in nativity performances, arts and crafts and Christmas carol competitions. At this time of year, it is quite common to find four or five "Our Lady of the Nativity" figures in the same corridor, or a large group of shepherds wandering through the playgrounds, watched over by little angels and Roman soldiers.

The Sixth Form pupils, having dedicated many hours of work and rehearsal under the direction of Judit Guàrdia and Belén Matarredona, perform the traditional Christmas play, Els Pastorets, in the school auditorium, to an audience of families and classmates, who are treated to a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The entire El Pinar school community comes together as one big family to celebrate one of the most important milestones of the academic year.

Teacher's Day

As the second term begins, the school gathers to celebrate a special occasion honouring all the teaching staff and school workers. Everyone who works at El Pinar receives the gratitude and recognition of pupils from all stages.

Following solemn Holy Mass, there is a succession of dances, choreographies, music and good humour as a token of gratitude to all those who collaborate and contribute to the educational life of our school.

Foundress Day (Feast Day of the Mother)

Each academic year, El Pinar celebrates the feast day of the Foundress with simple performances prepared by the pupils and, of course, with the traditional festive meal so lovingly prepared by the Sisters.

No celebration would be complete without the classic ice cream and the "Mexican waves" that sweep enthusiastically across the entire playground, while the Mother brings the occasion to a close with a few words of thanks for such a warm and family-spirited celebration.

End-of-Year Festival

The most eagerly awaited moment of the year has arrived: our End-of-Year Festival! An event that celebrates the talent of our pupils and showcases the work done in the classroom throughout the year, particularly in the areas of arts education and the development of creativity.

Music is much more than a subject. It is a powerful tool for expression, learning and growth. It develops coordination, memory, discipline and sensitivity, while also fostering teamwork and self-confidence. Every note, every rhythm and every piece of choreography is the fruit of a learning process through which pupils discover new ways of communicating and expressing their emotions.

This festival is the result of the collective work of the entire teaching staff, with every teacher contributing their experience and dedication so that the children can experience music and art as an essential part of their development. Through the various performances, we will see creativity come to life in our school's central courtyard, making it a unique experience for both the pupils and all the families who join us.

El Pinar school, as the one big family that we are, celebrates, grows and enjoys life together.
